Remarks – Recommended Use of SACC Item

Use the following clause in contracts for the procurement of applicable services (such as transportation and telecommunications; advertising services; professional and special services; and repair and maintenance services), as well as contracts involving a mix of goods and services, when the service component is $500 or more in the calendar year, and whenever the client department wishes to contact the contractor directly to obtain the required information. This includes contracts or standing offers with Canadians undertaking government work abroad.

Legal text for SACC item

  1. Pursuant to paragraph 221 (1)(d) of the Income Tax Act, R.S. 1985, c. 1 (5th Supp.), payments made by departments and agencies to contractors under applicable services contracts (including contracts involving a mix of goods and services) must be reported on a T1204 Government Service Contract Payments slip.
  2. To enable departments and agencies to comply with this requirement, the Contractor must provide Canada, upon request, its business number or Social Insurance Number, as applicable. (These requests may take the form of a general call-letter to contractors, in writing or by telephone).
