How Canada is buying goods and services to support the COVID-19 response
The Government of Canada has been exploring all options for securing the equipment and supplies needed to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
On March 12, 2020, the Government of Canada issued a call to suppliers to find out what goods and services they could provide to support Canada’s whole-of-government response to COVID-19. Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) received more than 26,000 unique submissions, from both Canadian and international businesses
As a result, PSPC has been able to secure and distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies that were the most immediate and urgent requirements.
The call to suppliers is now closed, and we are no longer receiving online submissions. Goods and services for COVID-19 requirements will be procured through tender opportunities posted on Buyandsell.gc.ca.
