2. Type in keywords related to your industry

On the search result page, type the keyword(s) related to your good or service in to the search box. Separate keywords by search operators (AND, OR, NOT). Put quotation marks around a phrase or concept of many words. Doing this ensures that the concept will be searched for as a whole and not picked apart by the search engine. To learn more, read the Search tips section on the Help page.

3. Narrow down your search result

You can use filters (search facets) on the left side of the search results page to further narrow down your search result. Each selection will refresh your searching page.

In this example, we have filtered our result by selecting from the Goods and Services facet "Services"; "K: Custodial Operations and Related Services"; "K1: Custodial Services"; "K100: Custodial and Janitorial Services."

Option 1: Create a bookmark to save your search

Once you have customized your search criteria, go to your browser's "Favorites" menu item, and bookmark your page by selecting the "Add to favorites" button. Give your bookmarked search result a unique name. This bookmarked URL will refresh with new information each time you visit.Note that bookmarking functions could differ depending on your browser.

Option 2: Sign up for email notifications to follow your search result

Select the email notification icon Email icon on your customized search results page: this will bring you to an email notification subscription form.

On the form, the first field is "Email": you must enter there a valid email address. We will send email notifications to this email address when new results matching your search criteria are added or modified on Buyandsell.gc.ca. If you use a spam filter, make sure to configure it to allow messages from the following email address: Achatsetventes.Buyingandselling [at] tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca.

The second field is "Email notification title". This field is prepopulated with the keywords and search filters used to create your custom search. This title will be displayed in the notification email subject line of all messages delivered to your inbox for your search result. To help manage your notifications, you can delete the prepopulated text and customize the email title to reflect a subject line that is more personalized.

Subscription and notification is unilingual. The language of the email notifications you receive is dependent upon the language of the page you subscribe to. For example, if you are subscribing to a search result in the English language, the subscription form and subsequent email notifications will be in the English language as well.

If you want to receive notifications in the French language, do not switch the language on the subscription form by selecting "Français": search filters and keywords are not retained when switching between languages. As such, if you switch the language on a subscription form, the French form will load, however it will not match the English search criteria you were originally interested in following.

To receive notifications in the French language, you must return to the search page and switch the language by selecting "Français". You must then rebuild your search criteria using French language filters and subscribe again by selecting the email icon.
