The following is a definition list of the data fields used in Contract History. For definitions of other procurement related terminology, please refer to the Supply Manual Glossary.

Amendment Number:
The number of amendments against a contract.

Competitive Tender:
Indicates whether a contract was awarded by a competitive (COMP) or non-competitive (NCOMP) solicitation process.

Contract Award Date:
Date on which a contract came into effect.

Contract Expiry Date:
Date on which a contract legally expired.

Contract Number:
A unique identifier assigned to a contract.

Contract Value:
Specifies the monetary value of the contract.

Contracting Entity Name:
The name of the Government of Canada entity that is the contracting entity (the government organisation that is procuring goods/services through a given contract).

Fiscal year:
Fiscal year means the period beginning on April 1 in one year and ending on March 31 in the next year.

GSIN Code:
The Goods and Services Identification Number (GSIN) is a system of material and services categorization used within Public Works and Government Services Canada.

GSIN description:
The description of the good or service that corresponds to the Goods and Services Identification Number (GSIN).

Industry Sector Description:
A short description of the industry represented by industry sector classification code.

Limited Tender Reason:
Specifies a reason for a given contract not being awarded through competitive solicitation.

Purchasing Entity Name:
The name of the Government of Canada organization that was primarily responsible for conducting a given procurement. The purchasing entity may not be the organization that is purchasing items through a given contract.

Solicitation Procedure:
Specifies the solicitation method used as a precursor to contract issuance.

Standardized Supplier Name:
A supplier name used to simplify search results by grouping together closely related suppliers that conduct business using different operating or legal names. The resulting search records will contain the suppliers’ legal and operating names.

Supplier Contracts Count:
Numeric indicator of how many contacts have been awarded to a given supplier.

Supplier Legal Name:
Legal registered name of a business entity that is also a supplier to the Government of Canada.

Supplier Operating Name:
Name(s) a business entity normally uses when conducting business as a supplier to the Government of Canada.

Trade Agreement:
Specifies a recognised trade agreement the terms of which were applicable to a given contract.
