March 8, 2022 - Ottawa - The way Canadians do business has changed. Companies, employees, consumers and customers alike are doing more and more business online. The Government of Canada is committed to helping businesses adopt new digital technologies to stay competitive and meet their customers' needs.
In Budget 2021, the Government of Canada announced the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) grow their business online and boost their existing business technologies. CDAP offers grants and loans with support falling into two categories:
- SMEs needing support to create digital storefronts and implement e-commerce or improve their digital e-commerce presence to generate greater sales
- SMEs looking to expand digital capabilities, adopt more complex digital solutions and improve productivity through digital transformation
Through offering grants and interest-free loans, setting up a national network of expert digital advisory services, and providing up to 28,000 placements for young Canadians, we are helping small businesses lead in the digital economy, creating jobs and generating long-term growth.
The program is divided into two options:
- Grow Your Business Online grants will help smaller, consumer-facing businesses, including those in services industries, take advantage of e commerce opportunities.
- Boost Your Business Technology funding will support businesses in planning and implementing more complex digital solutions. Businesses, such as small manufacturing and food processing operations, will look to leverage digital technologies to improve productivity and become more competitive.
